Case Study: SC3025 Grade
New grade for milling cast iron
Grade SC3025 has excellent wear and abrasion resistance offering 20% - 50% longer tool life.  The new RA wiper facet on 8-sided ODEW insert combines with SC3025 to provide 50% higher feed rates in cast iron face milling operations.  Better surface finishes at increased speed rates are achievable with the new RA geometry.  It is available in 45°, 90° and automotive face milling insert styles.
A large global automotive supplier required reduced cycle times, better tool life and excellent surface finish for machining cast iron components. The components are carriers, bridges, and frames and the material is spheroidal gray iron. Our technical sales engineer recommended the use of our new VOD06 close pitch cutters in combination with our cast iron milling grade, SC3025.
